Much awaited Mega Powerstar Ram Charan starrer Dhruva hit theaters today amidst huge expectations which is a remake of Blockbuster Tamil film 'Thani Oruvan'. Telugu version directed by Surender Reddy with Ram Charan and Rakul Preet Singh as leads. Arvind Swamy plays antagonist from the original. Produced by Allu Aravind under Geetha Arts banner. Did Telugu remake match up to the expectations? Let's see!
Dhruva (Ram Charan) has a habit of clearly examining things around him. Because of this habit he understands that behind every pet crime there is a planned organized crime. He makes a team and start discovering about crime while undergoing IPS training which en routes him to various small crimes. Seeing all this he comes to a decision of killing a big criminal so that 100 criminals under him would die. That criminal is Siddhardh Abhimanyu (Arvind Swamy) who is a criminal scientist and stops import of generic medicines to India. How Dhruva fought against him and successfully erased 100 criminals? How Ishika (Rakul Preet Singh) connected to the story? Is the rest to watch on screen.
This story is based on a mind game between a ferocious dare devil cop and intellectual criminal scientist. How IPS officer fought against criminal with mind game is an interesting plot in itself. Entire film goes with racy screenplay and richness in every frame. Before the transformation of villain (Siddhardh Abhimanyu) to a cruel scientist is not shown properly. First half goes lightly with IPS officer choosing a target of biggest criminal and second half comes the mind game between them. In case of remake films original flavour shouldn't be missed but it feels like a tinge of originality is missed in some scenes. Eight blockade scene is well planned and executed. Aravind Swamy took the film to an other level. Film gives us a feel of action thriller.
Ram Charan looked ultra stylish with good performance. Rakul Preet sizzled on screen especially in Pareshanura song but has nothing to do with plot of the film. Arvind Swamy did complete justice as a stylish villain. Posani is father of Arvind Swamy. Navdeep convinced his role as one of the friends of Charan.
Technical Department :
Technically this film is on a high note because of Surender Reddy stylish making, P.S.Vinod Cinematography, Hip Hop Tamizha background score and rich end production values.
Positive Points :
- Ram Charan , Arvind Swamy
Negative Points :
- Some scenes are dragged
Final verdict : Audience feel disappointed as there is no creativity shown in the major segment of the story i.e., mind game between Hero and Villain.
